About the role
This is a senior IT business analyst contract role leading requirements and analysis work for complex technology initiatives and organizational transformation projects in Ontario. It suits someone who can run stakeholder workshops, document detailed requirements and support UAT and business readiness, placed via a staffing firm on behalf of a confidential client. The role is hybrid, based in Ontario with up to 3 days onsite.
What you’ll do
- Lead business and systems analysis for complex technology initiatives and transformation projects
- Engage business, IT and senior stakeholders to understand needs and desired outcomes
- Gather, analyze, validate and document business and system requirements
- Develop functional requirements, process flows, use cases, user stories and acceptance criteria
- Analyze existing business processes to identify improvement opportunities
- Facilitate workshops, interviews and requirements walkthroughs
- Translate business needs into actionable requirements for technical teams and vendors
- Support solution evaluation against business objectives and standards
- Work with project managers, architects, developers, QA teams, vendors and SMEs
- Support UAT planning, test scenarios and defect clarification
- Maintain requirements traceability and support change management
- Prepare status updates and analysis findings for stakeholders
What they’re looking for
- 7+ years of experience in IT business analysis or a closely related role
- Strong experience gathering and documenting complex business and technical requirements
- Experience working with multiple business and technology stakeholders
- Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile and/or hybrid delivery methodologies
- Experience with process modelling, workflow analysis, requirements traceability and process improvement
- Excellent communication, facilitation, analytical and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams
Nice to have
- Experience in a public-sector or large enterprise environment
What’s on offer
- Compensation of $75/hr T4 to $95/hr incorporated
- Hybrid work in Ontario, up to 3 days onsite
- Contract from October 2026 to March 31, 2027, with potential extension of up to 253 business days
