About the role
This is an Applied AI Solutions Architect role at phData, a remote-first data and AI consultancy, open to candidates across the USA. It suits a senior architect with 8+ years of experience who can lead clients from AI experimentation to production-grade systems spanning ML, MLOps, generative AI and agentic workflows. phData partners with vendors including Snowflake, AWS and Anthropic to deliver enterprise data and AI projects.
What you’ll do
- Lead design of end-to-end applied AI architectures spanning predictive ML, MLOps, generative AI, LLM applications and agentic workflows
- Translate ambiguous business requirements into solution designs, technical requirements and implementation roadmaps
- Guide and contribute hands-on to prototypes, proofs of concept and production implementations
- Run discovery sessions and architecture workshops with clients to evaluate AI opportunities and recommend technology choices
- Ensure production AI systems have strong security, observability, evaluation, governance and cost controls
What they’re looking for
- 8+ years designing, building or delivering data, analytics, cloud, software, ML or AI solutions
- At least 5 of those years designing or leading AI, ML, MLOps or data-intensive solutions in production
- Strong understanding of applied AI and modern ML systems including predictive ML, MLOps, generative AI, RAG and agentic architectures
- Hands-on experience with production AI/ML systems including evaluation, observability, security and governance
- Experience with a modern cloud/data/AI ecosystem such as Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, Azure, GCP, dbt, Anthropic or OpenAI
- Proficiency in Python and strong working knowledge of SQL
- Ability to translate business and technical requirements into architectures and implementation plans
Nice to have
- Experience with agentic AI systems including orchestration, tool use, planning, memory or multi-agent patterns/MCP
- Experience designing enterprise RAG systems, semantic retrieval or intelligent workflow automation
- Experience with cloud-native AI/ML services such as AWS Bedrock/SageMaker, Azure AI/ML, Google Vertex AI or Snowflake Cortex
- Experience with model registries, feature stores, lineage, drift detection, evaluations or prompt management
- Experience building reusable accelerators or modular architectures deployed across multiple clients
