About the role
This is a full-time head chef position for an experienced culinary professional leading kitchen operations at Hai Di Lao Canada Restaurants Group Ltd. in Vancouver, British Columbia. You'll plan menus, prepare specialty and complete meals, supervise a team of five to ten people, and maintain food quality and cost controls. The role is intended for someone with formal post-secondary culinary education and three to five years of experience.
What you’ll do
- Plan menus and maintain food-quality standards.
- Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets.
- Track food costs, usage, sales, and inventory.
- Teach cooks about preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation.
- Introduce new cooking methods and equipment to the kitchen team.
- Arrange equipment purchases and repairs.
- Recruit, hire, and train kitchen staff.
- Supervise sous-chefs, specialist chefs, chefs, and cooks.
