About the role
This is a senior debt-accounting role in Dallas for an accountant who will manage recurring close work, reconciliations, debt schedules and financial-statement disclosures. You'll work with Treasury, technical accounting and auditors to record debt activity accurately under U.S. GAAP and support SOX controls.
What you’ll do
- Prepare monthly journal entries for debt facilities.
- Record debt-related cash activity and track debt issuance costs.
- Reconcile debt and related cash accounts against ledgers and sub-ledgers.
- Investigate and clear reconciling items.
- Prepare quarterly debt rollforwards and draft financial-statement footnotes.
- Maintain debt-related SOX control documentation and testing evidence.
- Respond to internal and external audit requests.
- Prepare journal entries for derivatives and hedging programs.
What they’re looking for
- Three to five years of general accounting experience.
- A bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance or a related field.
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP for debt accounting, including interest accruals, issuance-cost amortization and rollforwards.
- Strong reconciliation and account-analysis skills.
- Ability to meet monthly and quarterly close deadlines.
- Experience supporting SOX control documentation and testing.
- Strong organization, accuracy and independent research skills.
Nice to have
- Debt, treasury or corporate-accounting experience.
- NetSuite or a similar ERP.
- Experience in a high-growth or pre-IPO/post-IPO environment.
