About the role
This is a director-level SOX compliance leadership role based in Sunnyvale, California, or Bellevue, Washington. It suits an experienced compliance professional with 15 or more years of hands-on SOX work, deep IT control knowledge, and the ability to lead executive and audit relationships. You will own the SOX framework, improve controls and testing, guide remediation, and lead a team of three professionals.
What you’ll do
- Lead and mature the full SOX compliance programme.
- Review scoping across systems, processes, and controls.
- Improve process narratives, risk-control matrices, and control documentation.
- Perform risk assessments for financial, operational, and IT controls.
- Deliver SOX training and create guidance materials for employees and process owners.
- Design and perform control testing for design and operating effectiveness.
- Assess deficiencies and manage remediation through validated closure.
- Report programme status, risks, and deficiencies to senior finance leadership and the steering committee.
- Prepare management's ICFR effectiveness assessment for SEC filings.
- Build compliance dashboards and metrics.
- Coordinate walkthroughs, testing, documentation, and issue resolution with external auditors.
- Identify automation and efficiency opportunities using GRC and monitoring tools.
What they’re looking for
- 15 or more years of progressive, hands-on SOX compliance experience.
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, information systems, or a related field.
- CPA, CISA, or CIA certification, with CPA strongly preferred.
- Deep expertise in IT general controls and IT application controls.
- Knowledge of SOX, COSO, PCAOB standards, and US GAAP.
- Experience maturing SOX programmes in complex technology environments.
- Strong executive presence and stakeholder-influence skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
Nice to have
- Big Four experience focused on SOX advisory.
- Public-company experience in technology or SaaS.
- Experience with NetSuite, SAP, or financial close and consolidation tools.
- AuditBoard or another GRC platform.
- Experience in high-growth technology companies.
- Experience coaching and developing SOX teams.

- Base salary of $182,000–$242,000 per year.
