Associate General Counsel, Product Regulatory

About the role

This is a product-regulatory legal leadership role for a lawyer with at least 7 years of relevant experience, open across Livingston, New York, Sunnyvale, Bellevue, Washington, D.C. and Dallas. You’ll establish legal frameworks for designing, reviewing, launching and operating AI and cloud products across changing international regulations. The work combines product counselling, governance design, regulatory risk assessment and leadership on inquiries or investigations.

What you’ll do

  • Own the product-regulatory governance programme.
  • Lead legal reviews of products, features, AI capabilities, data uses and infrastructure initiatives.
  • Assess regulatory risks and recommend controls, approvals and launch conditions.
  • Embed privacy, responsible AI, security, data-governance and transparency requirements into product processes.
  • Advise supply-chain and operations teams on product-related regulatory issues.
  • Align product functionality, customer commitments, contracts, disclosures and marketing claims with legal requirements.
  • Monitor and apply US and international product, privacy, AI, data, cybersecurity and digital-services laws.
  • Lead regulatory inquiries, audits, investigations and policy engagements.

What they’re looking for

  • At least 7 years of relevant legal experience.
  • Substantial experience advising complex technology products.
  • Expertise in multiple areas such as AI governance, privacy, cybersecurity, consumer protection or digital-services regulation.
  • Technical fluency with product functionality, system architecture, data flows and model behaviour.
  • Experience creating product governance programmes, controls, training and audit evidence.
  • Experience with international product-risk assessments and market-entry advice.
  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in at least one US state bar.

Nice to have

  • Law-firm and in-house experience.
  • Experience with cloud, AI, SaaS, data-centre or infrastructure companies.
  • Experience with supply-chain, equipment, packaging or environmental compliance.
  • Experience engaging regulators, standards bodies, industry groups or external counsel.

  • Base salary of $177,000–$237,000 per year.
  • Discretionary bonus, equity awards and benefits subject to eligibility.
