About the role
This is a remote Lead Engineer role for an experienced software engineer working globally on a stock-trading application. You will combine hands-on coding with architecture, technical direction, production ownership, and mentoring. The team expects you to work across systems, APIs, data, infrastructure, and engineering practices.
What you’ll do
- Lead technical design for major products and engineering initiatives.
- Design reliable systems across backend, frontend, APIs, databases, and infrastructure.
- Code, prototype, review changes, debug issues, and solve production problems.
- Make trade-offs involving speed, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
- Turn unclear product and technical problems into execution plans.
- Set standards for testing, security, observability, and code quality.
- Review designs and code and give actionable feedback.
- Mentor engineers and strengthen team capability.
- Identify architectural risks and performance bottlenecks.
- Improve tooling, automation, and development workflows.
- Monitor released systems and resolve incidents and root causes.

- Significant experience shipping production software systems.
- Deep expertise in at least one area such as backend, frontend, distributed systems, APIs, databases, or cloud infrastructure.
- Strong architecture and system-design experience.
- Ability and willingness to remain hands-on with code.
- Experience leading major engineering work or providing technical leadership.
- Comfort working with production systems and complex debugging.
- Clear communication and influence across engineering teams.
- Product judgment and ownership from problem definition through production.
- Ability to work effectively in ambiguity and distributed international teams.
- Strong written and spoken English.
