About the role
This is a remote Lead Engineer role for a hands-on technical leader working globally with distributed teams. You will own complex product and system work from architecture through production while continuing to code, review designs and mentor engineers. The role supports BJAK's broader financial technology products and requires strong English communication.
What you’ll do
- Lead technical design and delivery for major products, features and engineering initiatives.
- Design reliable systems across APIs, databases, infrastructure, backend and frontend applications.
- Write code, prototype solutions, review changes, debug issues and resolve production problems.
- Make architecture and technology trade-offs across speed, scalability, reliability and maintainability.
- Turn ambiguous product and technical problems into practical execution plans.
- Set standards for testing, security, observability, code quality and production reliability.
- Review technical designs and code, mentor engineers and strengthen team capability.
- Work with engineering, product, design and AI teams to deliver products.
- Improve developer tooling, automation and engineering practices.
- Monitor released systems, investigate incidents and address root causes.

- Significant experience building and shipping production software systems.
- Deep expertise in at least one area such as backend, frontend, distributed systems, APIs, databases or cloud infrastructure.
- Strong system design and architecture experience for complex or high-scale systems.

- Experience leading major engineering projects or providing technical leadership.
- Experience reviewing code, debugging difficult issues and working with production systems.
- Clear communication and the ability to influence engineers across teams.
- Product judgment that connects technical decisions with customer and business outcomes.
- Comfort working quickly with ambiguity and owning work through production.
- Strong judgment about when to simplify and when to invest in deeper engineering work.
- Strong English communication skills for a distributed international team.
