About the role
This is a contract business analyst role leading functional analysis for a portfolio management modernization program in Toronto. It suits an experienced BA who can translate legacy wealth-management platform functionality into modern, API-driven architectures. The work covers portfolio position, valuation, performance measurement and accounting domains, with heavy SQL-based data reconciliation.
What you’ll do
- Lead functional analysis for portfolio management modernization initiatives
- Define future-state business capabilities and functional architecture
- Write functional specs, BRDs, FRDs, user stories, use cases and process workflows
- Translate legacy ClientLink and portfolio management functionality into API-driven designs
- Lead analysis across position management, transaction processing, valuation, performance and accounting
- Run complex SQL-based data investigations across transactions, holdings and cash balances
- Validate business calculations and financial outputs, tracing data across systems
- Support data migration and modernization efforts, flagging data quality issues
What they’re looking for
- 10+ years of business systems analysis experience
- 5+ years supporting portfolio, wealth or investment management platforms
- Experience on large-scale modernization or transformation programs
- Experience with legacy-to-modern platform migrations
- Advanced SQL and data analysis skills
- Strong grasp of data models, mapping, reconciliation, APIs, batch and event-driven architectures
- Experience writing detailed functional and technical specifications
Nice to have
- Experience with ClientLink or a similar portfolio management platform
- Experience with Charles River, Avaloq, Temenos, Aladdin, Eagle or SimCorp
- Knowledge of Kafka, microservices and API gateways
- Cloud modernization experience
- CFA, CIM, CSC or an equivalent investment industry certification
What’s on offer
