About the role
This is an operational BI ownership role for a Microsoft Fabric/Azure reporting environment, based remotely and reporting into the company behind the posting. It suits a hands-on BI professional who wants to take over and stabilize an existing production platform rather than build one from scratch. The role starts with a knowledge-transfer period alongside the outgoing BI owner before moving to full independent ownership.
What you’ll do
- Learn every report, dataset, pipeline and process from the outgoing BI owner and document it
- Secure and validate access to all systems, workspaces and service accounts
- Migrate legacy Azure data sources to a validated Microsoft Fabric/Azure environment
- Preserve existing reporting outputs, logic and distributions exactly as they are
- Validate reports and scheduled extracts after cutover and resolve issues
- Serve as primary operational owner, monitoring and troubleshooting the platform
- Maintain platform stability until it is replaced by a future-state BI environment

- 8-10 years of experience
- T-SQL, stored procedures and query performance tuning on Azure SQL
- Hands-on Azure Data Factory pipeline building and troubleshooting
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Fabric workspaces, Lakehouse/Warehouse and Dataflows Gen2
- Strong relational data modeling and advanced SQL
- Power BI datasets, reports, workspaces, refresh scheduling and row-level security
- Paginated/SSRS-style report development
- DAX and Power Query (M)
- Power Automate for report and data distribution automation
- Advanced Excel including Power Query
- Experience operating and supporting a production BI environment end to end
