About the role
This is a senior Power BI developer / data engineer contract role supporting a Capital Measurement Reporting data modernization program in banking, based in Toronto. It suits an experienced BI developer who can design regulator-ready dashboards for capital and risk reporting. You'll work closely with Risk, Finance, Regulatory Reporting and Data Engineering teams to modernize reporting platforms.
What you’ll do
- Design and develop Power BI dashboards and reports for Capital Measurement, RWA, Risk Exposure and Finance metrics
- Translate complex capital and risk data into clear, auditable visualizations
- Build optimized Power BI semantic models aligned with modern cloud data platforms
- Develop and optimize DAX measures for capital calculations and comparisons
- Leverage Power Query (M code) and SQL for ETL and data transformation
- Work with upstream ETL and Data Engineering teams to ensure accurate, reconciled data feeds
- Manage Power BI Service environments including workspaces, datasets and refresh schedules
- Use Power Automate to streamline reporting workflows
- Partner with Risk, Finance and Capital Management stakeholders to gather requirements
- Mentor junior BI developers and participate in design reviews

- 5+ years of advanced Power BI development in Banking / Financial Services
- Proven experience supporting Capital, Risk or Regulatory Reporting initiatives
- Expert-level Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service
- Advanced DAX and Power Query / M code
- Advanced SQL
- Enterprise data modeling (fact/dimension)
- ETL concepts and performance optimization
