About the role
This is a technical product owner role at a Canadian financial services company, based out of Toronto, Vancouver or Calgary, covering RPA and enterprise reporting. It suits an experienced product owner who acts as a gatekeeper between business requests and engineering teams, enforcing rigorous intake and SDLC standards. The team is modernizing its data stack from Talend and Redshift toward dbt, Snowflake and Dagster while maturing its RPA practice.
What you’ll do
- Serve as the primary intake point for enterprise reporting and RPA requests
- Insist on proper BRDs, architecture diagrams and SLAs before work reaches the backlog
- Own and prioritize the backlog across epics and business-as-usual work
- Push back on out-of-scope or undocumented requests
- Collaborate with engineers and architects to challenge technical decisions
- Lead the ground-up implementation of DORA metrics to track engineering performance
- Lead Agile ceremonies and establish a strict Definition of Done
What they’re looking for
- 5+ years as a Technical Product Owner, Technical Project Manager or Systems Architect
- Experience improving Software Development Life Cycle processes and mentoring
- Ability to read and challenge complex cloud-native architecture without writing code
- Deep conceptual understanding of modern data infrastructure such as dbt, Snowflake and Dagster
- Experience with enterprise automation platforms like UiPath and Microsoft Power Platform
- Experience in Agile development teams and establishing BRDs, NFRs and acceptance criteria
- Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code and git-ops practices
Nice to have
- Experience working in banking or fintech
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric
- Experience with PowerBI
