About the role
This onsite Housing Support Worker role supports tenants in Pacifica Housing's supportive-housing programs in Victoria, British Columbia. It suits front-line social-service workers who can provide person-centred support using Housing First, harm-reduction, and psychosocial-rehabilitation practices. Available regular and casual positions cover day, evening, and overnight schedules at Camas Gardens and Waterview.
What you’ll do
- Develop and monitor individualized tenant support plans.
- Provide life-skills, case-management, financial-navigation, and appointment support.
- Monitor mental health and substance use and respond to emergencies.
- Administer naloxone when responding to overdoses.
- Coordinate referrals and work with healthcare, ACT, police, and emergency-service partners.
- Help tenants with maintenance, pest-control preparation, and minor repairs.
- Maintain tenant records, activity logs, statistics, and incident reports.
What they’re looking for
- Have recent related social-service or non-profit-housing experience.
- Have experience supporting people affected by substance use, mental-health challenges, homelessness, or housing barriers.
- Understand psychosocial rehabilitation, harm reduction, and Housing First.
- Work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Use Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Hold First Aid, Food Safe or equivalent, and naloxone-administration certifications.
- Pass a Vulnerable Sectors Criminal Record Check.
Nice to have
- Training or education in a related human or social-service field.
- Conflict-resolution or crisis-prevention training and experience.
What’s on offer
- Regular roles pay $28.13 to $30.55 per hour, with a $3 hourly night premium where applicable.
- Multiple regular lines offer 72 hours every two weeks, and casual work is also available.
