About the role
This is a remote solution architect role at E Source, a research and technology firm serving the US and Canadian utility industry. The architect provides senior technical leadership across complex AMI (advanced metering infrastructure) and utility technology initiatives, defining current- and future-state architectures. It suits someone experienced in utility systems integration who is comfortable both directing technical consultants and doing hands-on testing and data work when needed.
What you’ll do
- Lead development of current-state and future-state solution architectures for AMI and utility technology initiatives
- Develop system context diagrams, component diagrams, and integration models
- Translate business processes and requirements into practical solution designs
- Identify integration requirements across AMI, MDMS, CIS, GIS, and other utility systems
- Facilitate architecture and design workshops with utility stakeholders and vendors
- Evaluate vendor solution designs for alignment with requirements and scalability
- Provide technical oversight through design, build, integration, testing, and deployment
- Lead and mentor technical consultants on testing and data management activities
What they’re looking for
- 5+ years of experience in utility solution architecture, systems engineering, or systems integration
- Demonstrated experience designing or supporting complex technology solutions for electric, gas, or water utilities
- Strong understanding of utility enterprise and operational systems such as AMI, MDMS, CIS, GIS
- Experience developing system context diagrams, solution architectures, and integration models
- Hands-on experience with utility technology testing and data management
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or related field, or equivalent experience
Nice to have
- Experience with electric, gas, and water utilities across multiple AMI implementation phases
- Deep familiarity with systems integration concepts, APIs, and enterprise architecture principles
- Experience with utility technology testing including test strategy and defect management
