About the role
This is a remote, full-time Director of Freight and Logistics role for a senior transportation leader serving Prolific Supply’s operating-company portfolio. You’ll design and execute enterprise freight strategy across Hawthorne Gardening, Bridgewell, and future acquisitions, with responsibility for lowering total transportation costs while protecting service. The position reports to the CEO and leads network assessment, carrier strategy, contract negotiations, systems integration, and logistics transformation. Performance is tied to service, freight productivity, cost savings, working-capital efficiency, and EBITDA impact.
What you’ll do
- Create an integrated inbound and outbound transportation strategy across portfolio companies.
- Identify opportunities to consolidate freight volumes, carriers, routes, and distribution points.
- Establish freight-spend baselines and measure realized savings with Finance.
- Lead carrier, broker, 3PL, rail, ocean-freight, and related contract negotiations.
- Manage strategy across truckload, LTL, rail, intermodal, ocean, container, and drayage transport.
- Improve import transportation, port strategy, and international freight visibility.
- Analyze distribution footprint, cross-docking, consolidation, and pooling opportunities.
- Define freight data needs and support WMS, ERP, and TMS integration.
- Build enterprise scorecards for cost, service, utilization, claims, and savings.
- Assess transportation synergies during acquisitions and integrations.

- Substantial leadership experience in transportation, freight, logistics, distribution, or supply chain.
- Experience negotiating carrier, 3PL, and supplier contracts through competitive bids.
- Hands-on multi-modal transportation expertise across truck, rail, intermodal, and ocean freight.
- International or cross-border supply-chain experience, including ports, drayage, and imports.
- Experience with distribution-network optimization and freight procurement.
- Experience with ERP, WMS, transportation systems, conversions, and integrations.
- Experience working across multiple companies or locations, including M&A integration.
- Data-driven negotiation and communication skills across operations, finance, sales, supply chain, and leadership.
