About the role
This is a hands-on AI engineering leadership role for building production AI and agentic systems at Target in Bengaluru, India. You'll own architecture and delivery across Python services, LLM applications, evaluation, observability, and enterprise engineering standards in an on-site environment.
What you’ll do
- Guide architecture, system design, and framework choices for AI initiatives.
- Build, deploy, and maintain production AI, machine-learning, LLM, and agentic systems.
- Write production-quality Python and establish engineering practices.
- Create evaluation, guardrail, and observability systems for model behavior and performance.
- Ensure compliance with infrastructure, data-governance, platform, and security standards.
- Turn business needs into actionable technical specifications.
- Mentor engineers and lead architecture reviews.
- Develop reusable AI components and implementation patterns.
What they’re looking for
- 6 to 10 years of experience, including ownership of production systems.
- A four-year STEM degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong Python skills and familiarity with PyTorch, TensorFlow, LangChain, LlamaIndex, or Semantic Kernel.
- Experience with model APIs, prompt orchestration, agents, and RAG.
- A solid foundation in system design, APIs, testing, version control, and monitoring.
- Ability to provide technical leadership and collaborate across data science, product, platform, and security teams.
Nice to have
- A master's degree in a relevant technical field.
- Production experience with agentic or multi-agent systems.
- Retail, supply-chain, marketing, or personalization AI experience.
- Cloud ML platforms, Docker, Kubernetes, and automated CI/CD.
- Semantic Kernel or native agent SDK experience.
- Advanced LLM evaluation and observability tools.
