About the role
This is a production-focused Senior AI Engineer role on Target's Data Sciences team in Bengaluru, building and deploying AI/ML applications that support automation and decision-making across business workflows. It's an onsite role suited to a hands-on engineer who wants to build APIs, services and data pipelines rather than pure research. You'll work closely with data scientists, engineers, platform and security teams to turn business problems into production-grade AI systems.
What you’ll do
- Write maintainable, well-tested code for production AI/ML applications
- Support model and framework integration, build APIs and services
- Develop data and application workflows
- Contribute to deployment, monitoring, documentation and production support
- Partner with senior and principal engineers to evaluate technical options and resolve roadblocks
- Help ensure AI applications meet security, reliability and enterprise standards
What they’re looking for
- 4-year degree in a quantitative discipline or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, including production DS/ML systems
- Experience building and scaling production ML/AI applications, including agentic systems
- Strong Python proficiency, including APIs, pipelines, batch/online inference and retrieval/vector systems
- Experience with MLOps: model evaluation, observability, CI/CD, containers, cloud deployment
- Strong understanding of system design and AI application architecture
- Experience with version control, code reviews, documentation, monitoring
Nice to have
- Experience with GCP
- Exposure to LLM evaluation, retrieval quality and agent observability
