About the role
This is a senior backend engineering role at Resilinc, a fully remote supply-chain risk management company, building Java/Spring Boot microservices. It suits an experienced backend engineer with strong PostgreSQL and cloud-native deployment skills who also wants to mentor others. You'll design and scale RESTful APIs and microservices deployed on Azure using Docker and Kubernetes.
What you’ll do
- Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
- Design and develop RESTful APIs and microservices focused on availability and fault tolerance.
- Implement secure service-to-service integrations, authentication and authorization.
- Work with PostgreSQL, designing schemas and writing complex SQL.
- Deploy and scale cloud-native applications in Azure using CI/CD.
- Work with Docker and Kubernetes for containerized deployment.
- Apply distributed-systems concepts including multithreading, caching and fault tolerance.
- Develop unit and integration tests using JUnit, Mockito and Testcontainers.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
- Diagnose complex production issues and perform root-cause analysis.
What they’re looking for
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5-8+ years of professional software development experience with Java and Spring Boot.
- Strong experience designing REST APIs and microservices using OOD and SOLID principles.
- Strong PostgreSQL experience including 3+ years with complex SQL and schema design.
- Hands-on experience with JPA/Hibernate, Git and Maven or Gradle.
- Experience with Azure, Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong debugging and performance-tuning skills.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.
Nice to have
- Experience building high-volume, highly available SaaS platforms.
- Experience with Apache Kafka and Redis.
- Experience with Spark.
- Knowledge of OAuth 2.0, JWT and observability tools.
- Familiarity with performance testing, infrastructure as code or Domain-Driven Design.
- Familiarity with Angular or React.
