About the role
This is a hands-on senior data engineering role building and operating the data infrastructure behind a small-business commercial insurance company. It suits an experienced data engineer comfortable writing production Python and SQL, building Airflow pipelines, and working within a Data Vault 2.0 warehouse. The role is fully remote within the United States.
What you’ll do
- Develop and maintain data pipelines that transform raw data into reliable, tested data models.
- Make modeling decisions within the Data Vault 2.0 warehouse balancing raw fidelity with downstream analytics needs.
- Administer and optimize Snowflake, including sizing, access controls, RBAC and cost tuning.
- Build and maintain Airflow DAGs and CI/CD pipelines for predictable, reversible deployments.
- Implement automated unit, integration and data quality testing.
- Own production observability, tune alerts, and respond to incidents.
- Lead technical projects end-to-end, including scoping and stakeholder communication.
- Drive data governance and security practices, including SOX-relevant change management.

- Minimum 5 years as a software or data engineer focused on data systems.
- Advanced SQL skills for large structured and semi-structured datasets.
- Proficiency in Python for production data pipelines.
- Hands-on Snowflake administration experience including RBAC and cost governance.
- Experience designing and implementing modern cloud data warehouses.
- Track record leading technical projects end-to-end without a product manager.
- Comfort working in a regulated (e.g. SOX-relevant) environment.
Nice to have
- Data Vault 2.0 experience (deep dimensional modeling experience accepted with willingness to learn Data Vault).
- Experience with data observability tooling.
- Proficiency with AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Cursor or Snowflake Cortex.
