About the role
This is a senior backend engineering role for building the money-movement services that connect Phantom Cash with blockchains in a worldwide remote setting. You will design dependable APIs and event-driven systems while balancing product delivery, distributed-systems reliability, and blockchain integration. The role suits backend engineers with Node.js and NestJS experience who understand crypto protocols and production operations.
What you’ll do
- Design, maintain, and evolve backend services and APIs for Phantom Cash.
- Connect financial services to blockchain networks.
- Build event-driven systems with queues, retries, and idempotency.
- Develop versioned REST APIs with pagination, authentication, error handling, and rate limits.
- Make sound client-server, state-management, and latency trade-offs.
- Address concurrency, ordering, retries, and data consistency in distributed systems.
- Document technical decisions and communicate across engineering pods.
- Mentor engineers and raise delivery and quality standards.

- A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong Node.js and NestJS experience at scale.
- Knowledge of event-driven architecture, queues, retries, and idempotency.
- Experience designing REST APIs, authentication, pagination, error models, and rate limiting.
- Understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, ordering, and data consistency.
- Pragmatic, proactive, outcome-oriented engineering and communication skills.
- Deep interest in crypto, wallets, protocols, and security practices.
Nice to have
- Kubernetes and AWS operations experience.
- CI/CD, observability, and on-call ownership.
- Professional experience in crypto or fintech, including exchanges, wallets, payment rails, or ledgers.
- Smart-contract and blockchain protocol knowledge.
- Solana integration experience; EVM experience is also acceptable.
- Experience shipping products in mature, high-standard engineering organizations.
