This is a principal-level applied engineering role at Mercor's Deeptune team, fully remote from India, building high-fidelity training environments for AI agents. It suits an experienced full-stack Python engineer who has owned substantial technical projects from specification through production. You'll build environments, tool APIs and infrastructure that let AI agents practice and be evaluated on realistic professional software tasks.
What you’ll do
- Build high-fidelity applications that reproduce professional software workflows.
- Build tool APIs, MCP servers and containerized computer-use systems.
- Design realistic tasks, analyze rollouts and tune difficulty.
- Design schemas, large corpora, anonymization pipelines and fast search/loading systems.
- Build automation, QA systems and deployment tooling used across the team.

- Strong Python skills spanning backend, frontend, data and infrastructure.
- Experience owning technically substantial projects from an early stage through production.
- Clear, structured communication skills.
- Technical depth in understanding system architecture and failure modes.
- Good judgment about architecture, tradeoffs, testing, reliability and scope.
- Comfort with changing requirements and unfamiliar problem spaces.
