Go Software Engineer (Remote) - Codebase Q&A
Skills
About the role
Mercor is hiring Go engineers to design and validate tasks for training AI agents that inspect unfamiliar codebases. The work is fully remote and paid per approved task at a flat rate of $130 per task.
What you’ll do
- Select a task from a vetted pool of production Go repositories pinned to specific git commits
- Investigate the repository to understand the subsystem and relevant PR or issue history
- Rewrite task questions so they challenge frontier coding agents while remaining well-defined and fair
- Update rubrics and foils to reward sound reasoning and reject plausible but incorrect answers
- Move through the Studio validation cycle—Check, Golden, Run, Analyze—until every stage passes
- Document your work in the task README and address reviewer feedback on returned tasks
What they’re looking for
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience with significant production Go work
- Proven ability to navigate a large, unfamiliar Go codebase and explain runtime behaviour
- Fluency in Go concurrency, interfaces, module boundaries, and the standard library
- Background in distributed systems, networking, storage engines, or Kubernetes tooling
- Precise written English because questions and rubrics become the product
- Familiarity with git at commit level, containerized environments, and command-line tooling
What’s on offer
- $130 per approved task
- Fully remote work performed from any location via Mercor Studio
- Tasks span infrastructure-grade Go systems including etcd, Traefik, Helm, Temporal, CoreDNS, NATS Server, and others
- Each task undergoes two rounds of expert review before acceptance
