About the role
This is a senior individual contributor role at KoBold Metals, a mineral exploration technology company, working remotely from the US or Canada. You'll own data systems end to end -- data model, ETL, application and stakeholder relationships -- supporting operations and mentoring junior analysts. It suits an experienced data engineer or analytics engineer who wants ownership of production systems with minimal oversight.
What you’ll do
- Build new data models, ETL/API integrations and app support (Foundry and others)
- Steward OPSDB platform maintenance, sync reliability and alerting
- Support production systems and resolve data quality issues
- Manage governance and technical debt including RBAC, scoped roles and dbt semantic layer
- Document processes and technical procedures
- Support Mingomba operations and mentor junior analysts
- Coordinate with functional teams like Procurement and Inventory
What they’re looking for
- 5+ years in data engineering, analytics engineering or data operations owning production systems independently
- Strong SQL and data modeling (PostgreSQL)
- Proven ETL and API integration experience
- Experience and comfort with AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.)
- Intellectual curiosity about mineral exploration and the geology domain
- Ability to explain technical problems to non-technical domain experts
- A valid passport and willingness to travel to exploration sites
Nice to have
- dbt experience
- Cloud tooling (AWS/S3)
- Finance-systems experience (NetSuite/Tipalti)
- Geospatial data experience
