This is a senior software engineering role at GiveDirectly, fully remote worldwide with required time-zone overlap between East Africa Time and US Eastern Time. What you’ll do
- Design and build scalable, reliable systems powering donor platforms, payment delivery and crisis response tools
- Own end-to-end development of new features and services from architecture through deployment and monitoring
- Improve developer workflows by strengthening CI/CD pipelines and increasing test coverage
- Collaborate with product, ops and data teams to ship tools supporting program delivery
- Debug and resolve production issues with a focus on root cause analysis
- Help shape the technical roadmap for scale and maintainability
What they’re looking for
- 4+ years of industry experience building production-caliber software
- Experience with backend architecture including databases, cloud services and APIs
- Experience building infrastructure to deploy software
- Experience with a strongly-typed, object-oriented language such as Java, C# or Go, plus a scripting language such as Python or Ruby
- High degree of ownership and autonomy
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Ability to travel 1-2 times per year for team retreats or field visits
- Time-zone overlap of at least 3 hours between East Africa Time and US Eastern Time (8am-6pm)

- Experience with microservice or serverless architecture
