About the role
This is a people-management role leading enterprise data governance across Snowflake and AWS at Genesys, a customer-experience software company. It suits an experienced data governance or platform leader who has run a small technical team and wants to own compliance, cost strategy, and self-service data access at scale. The role is India-eligible and listed as full-time.
What you’ll do
- Define and evolve the enterprise data governance strategy, including RBAC, compliance, and cost optimization.
- Own Snowflake and AWS platform governance architecture across environments.
- Embed governance capabilities such as RBAC, network security, and data masking into the platforms.
- Establish governance foundations for AI/ML initiatives, including model governance and data lineage.
- Own SOX compliance execution, including access controls and audit evidence generation.
- Manage data catalog operations and metadata governance, including PII tagging and stewardship.
- Own platform cost management, including warehouse sizing, cost attribution, and chargeback.
- Build and mentor a governance team, growing it from three to five engineers.
- Drive adoption of governed, self-service data access across the organization.
What they’re looking for
- 8+ years of experience in data governance, data platform operations, or data management, with 3+ years in a people leadership or technical lead role.
- A track record of building and scaling governance programs in cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Demonstrated ability to hire, mentor, and manage the performance of technical teams.
- Deep knowledge of Snowflake platform architecture, including RBAC design, row-level security, and data masking.
- AWS cloud proficiency, including S3, IAM, and multi-engine data architectures.
- Enterprise compliance experience such as SOX or SOC 2, with expertise in access controls and audit evidence.
- Data catalog and metadata management expertise, such as with Alation or Collibra.
- Knowledge of modern data platforms such as Databricks, including cataloging and lineage.
Nice to have
- Experience with Snowflake AI/ML governance, including Cortex, Agents, and Snowpark ML.
- Experience with cost attribution, chargeback models, and ROI measurement.
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code such as Terraform.
- Experience in an enterprise SaaS environment with distributed data ownership and rapid scaling.
