About the role
This is a remote Outage Manager role with GE Vernova for planning and leading complex planned and emergency outages involving steam turbines, generators and related systems. You will coordinate preparation, field execution, customer communication, cost control and closeout, including leadership of large onsite teams during assigned outages. The role is open in Canada and requires frequent travel, including more than 50% travel and availability for weekends, holidays and overtime when assignments require it.
What you’ll do
- Prepare outage schedules, labour, tooling, costs, mobilization plans and customer meetings.
- Lead onsite execution for planned, emergency and upgrade outages.
- Track job costs, productivity, risks, forecasts and labour-hour performance.
- Support quotations through scope definition, site checks and preliminary safety and risk analysis.
- Assist customer operations teams during shutdown, startup and turbine or generator performance testing.
- Maintain field, quality, environmental, health and safety and customer documentation.
- Use web systems to plan and forecast labour, tooling and vendors.
- Respond promptly to forced outages and investigate issues affecting restoration.
- Communicate technical matters to customer staff and support the Customer Service Manager.
- Improve existing processes and identify opportunities to simplify execution.
What they’re looking for
- A bachelor's degree in science or engineering, or a high school diploma/GED plus four years in power generation.
- At least eight years of relevant experience involving steam turbine or generator maintenance.
- At least three years specialising in outage planning and execution for turbine, generator and auxiliary systems.
- English proficiency and legal authorisation to work in Canada.
- Willingness to travel more than 50% and work assigned holidays, weekends or overtime.
Nice to have
- Strong project planning and management skills.
- Experience with Primavera scheduling.
- Advanced Excel and web application skills.
- Technical knowledge of gas or steam turbines and generators.
- Experience leading teams in demanding customer-site environments.
- FEP graduate experience.
