About the role
This is an 18-month contract Operations Data Analyst role based in Toronto, working four days onsite, supporting a financial services organization's regulatory and operational data needs. It suits someone early in their analytics career with strong Excel and Power BI skills who wants exposure to capital markets onboarding, AML/KYC and regulatory reporting. You'll analyze operational and regulatory datasets, build dashboards, and support remediation programs and low-code automation.
What you’ll do
- Analyze operational, onboarding and regulatory datasets to identify trends, risks and control gaps
- Perform data reconciliations, root cause analysis and exception reporting
- Build and maintain dashboards, scorecards and management reporting in Power BI, Excel and SharePoint
- Support data governance and data quality validation and monitoring
- Support regulatory initiatives and remediation programs through data analysis and documentation
- Support gathering and validation of business requirements for operational and technology initiatives
- Develop and maintain low-code solutions such as Power Automate workflows and Power Apps
- Maintain project trackers, risk logs and management reporting
What they’re looking for
- Undergraduate degree in a STEM or Finance-related discipline
- Strong Excel skills including formulas, PivotTables, charts and data cleaning
- Experience with Power BI or another data visualization tool, including through coursework or internships
- Foundational SQL and data analysis skills
- Ability to document analysis, logic, controls and user instructions
Nice to have
- Working knowledge of trading products across Global Markets and Investment & Corporate Banking
- Exposure to Power Query and VBA
- Exposure to Python or another analytics language
- Working knowledge of regulations including CIRO, FINRA, FATCA/CRS, Dodd-Frank, SEC Security-Based Swaps and NI 93-101
- Exposure to Power Automate, Power Apps, Forms or comparable low-code platforms
- Exposure to process mapping tools such as Visio or Lucidchart
