About the role
This is a Senior Software Engineer role building agentic AI systems and data pipelines, fully remote with a preference for the Twin Cities area. You'd build production agent workflows, evaluation/observability tooling and data ingestion pipelines powering an AI-driven collaboration platform. The role requires US citizenship due to defense-related contracting, and suits an engineer with several years of AI/ML or data engineering experience.
What you’ll do
- Design, build and operate production agent workflows using agent SDKs, MCP servers and Agent Skills standards
- Build an eval and observability layer using Langfuse, golden datasets and LLM-as-judge patterns
- Engineer data ingestion pipelines with quality validation, deduplication and incremental updates
- Improve retrieval quality through hybrid search, reranking and query expansion
- Build custom MCP tools and Agent Skills to speed up the engineering team
- Pair with full-stack engineers on AI integration points
- Contribute to incident response for AI services
What they’re looking for
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with 3+ years in AI/ML or data engineering
- Production experience building and operating LLM-based agent or tool-use systems
- Data engineering background building scalable pipelines for AI/ML workloads
- Experience with evals and observability for production LLM systems
- Production experience with vector databases or search engines such as OpenSearch or Elasticsearch
- Proficiency with FastAPI, Pydantic and modern async Python
- Demonstrated use of agentic coding tools such as Claude Code or Codex
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and AWS
- US citizenship, due to DoD contracting requirements
Nice to have
- Deep experience with Agent Skills standards, custom MCP servers and multiple agent SDKs
- Advanced RAG techniques such as GraphRAG or contextual retrieval
- Experience with knowledge graphs or graph databases
- Experience matching models to use cases for cost/quality/latency tradeoffs
- Streaming data experience with Kafka or Kinesis
- A research background, open-source contributions, or an advanced degree in ML/IR/NLP
