About the role
Coinbase is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join its Developer Infrastructure group and construct foundational tooling for thousands of internal engineers. Operating remotely, you will design and sustain the continuous integration, build systems, deployment orchestration, and testing frameworks that drive the platform forward.
What you’ll do
- Architect, develop, and maintain core developer infrastructure services that power continuous integration, build acceleration, and deployment automation.
- Analyze and optimize critical engineering productivity metrics, specifically targeting reductions in build times, CI delays, and deployment failures.
- Assume full ownership of platform services, defining architecture, implementing observability standards, establishing SLOs, and participating in on-call rotations.
- Identify systemic engineering bottlenecks by partnering directly with development teams, then translate those pain points into targeted platform enhancements.
- Lead complex technical design sessions for cross-cutting initiatives and guide those projects through production safely.
- Mentor fellow engineers, establish technical roadmaps, and apply generative AI responsibly to elevate workflow efficiency, lower costs, and improve software quality.

- Five or more years of professional experience developing and operating production-grade software with strong distributed systems competence.
- Proficiency in Go or comparable programming languages, backed by a history of shipping impactful backend or platform systems.
- Sharp operational instincts prioritizing system reliability, data security, and granular observability across large-scale environments.
- Clear, concise communication style enabling autonomous project leadership alongside collaborative cross-departmental efforts.
- Demonstrated expertise within developer infrastructure domains, including continuous integration, build optimization, release tooling, and test infrastructure.
- Practical knowledge of containerized environments, Kubernetes, Amazon Web Services, Terraform, and GitHub Actions at meaningful scales.
- Specialized depth in areas such as remote execution engines, progressive deployment strategies, or automated test optimization.
- Experience utilizing industry-standard performance and monitoring tools, particularly Datadog.
