This is a Business Systems Analyst role bridging business requirements and API-driven technical solutions for Cognizant, based in Toronto with hybrid on-site expectations. What you’ll do
- Gather, analyze, and translate business requirements into technical specifications for API development
- Design and document system solutions using RESTful APIs, microservices, and integration patterns
- Collaborate with developers and architects to define API contracts, data models, and workflows
- Conduct system impact assessments and create process flow diagrams and documentation
- Lead User Acceptance Testing activities, including test planning and case development
- Develop and maintain API standards and system architecture documentation
- Support production deployments and troubleshoot integration issues
What they’re looking for
- 5+ years of experience in Business Systems Analysis or a related field
- 2+ years of hands-on experience supporting API design, development, and integration
- Strong understanding of RESTful API principles, authentication methods, and JSON/XML data formats
- Experience with API design and testing tools such as Postman or Swagger/OpenAPI
- Ability to translate complex business requirements into clear technical documentation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills across technical and non-technical teams
Nice to have
- Experience working in microservices-based environments
- Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns and API governance best practices
- Familiarity with cloud-based integration platforms
- Experience supporting end-to-end SDLC projects
- Exposure to Agile delivery methodologies
