About the role
This is a generative AI engineering role at Cognizant, based in Chennai on a hybrid schedule, for someone with 5+ years of experience. The work centers on preparing data for and fine-tuning multimodal foundation models, and building backend services around LLM-powered solutions. You'd work across data pipelines, model fine-tuning and cloud deployment for client-facing AI applications.
What you’ll do
- Collect and prepare data for training and evaluating multimodal foundation models
- Develop and optimize large-scale language models including GANs and VAEs
- Fine-tune large language models for custom datasets
- Build and deploy AI applications on Azure, GCP or AWS
- Design backend services in Python or .NET to support LLM-powered solutions
- Work with custom datasets using chunking and embeddings for training and fine-tuning
- Integrate Azure cognitive services or equivalent to extend AI functionality
- Ensure robustness, efficiency and scalability of AI systems
What they’re looking for
- 5+ years of experience
- Strong foundation in machine learning, deep learning and computer science
- Expertise in generative AI models and techniques (GANs, VAEs, Transformers)
- Proficiency in Python and AI libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch and Keras
- Experience with NLP for text generation, parsing and sentiment analysis
- Experience with data preprocessing, augmentation and synthetic data generation
- Experience deploying AI models in production
- Knowledge of cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization with Docker/Kubernetes
