About the role
This is a hands-on Engineering Lead role owning technical direction for major products and systems at Bjak (KIRA), a Southeast Asia-based fintech. It suits a senior engineer who still wants to write code and design systems while also driving architecture decisions and mentoring other engineers. The role is fully remote, working across global teams and time zones.
What you’ll do
- Own technical design and execution for major products and systems
- Design scalable, reliable systems across backend, frontend, APIs, databases and infrastructure
- Code, prototype, review, debug and solve production problems alongside the team
- Drive architecture trade-offs across speed, scalability, reliability, cost and maintainability
- Turn ambiguous product problems into clear technical plans
- Raise engineering quality in system design, testing, security and observability
- Lead technically critical initiatives and mentor engineers across teams
What they’re looking for
- 7+ years of software engineering experience shipping production systems
- Deep expertise in backend, frontend, distributed systems, APIs, databases or cloud infrastructure
- Strong system design and architecture skills for complex or high-scale systems
- Strong coding ability with willingness to stay hands-on
- A track record of technically leading major engineering projects from design to production
- Ability to make sound technical trade-offs and solve complex production problems
- Strong English communication for a distributed, international team
