About the role
This is a senior Power BI developer contract leading capital and risk reporting analytics for a banking client in Toronto. The role suits an experienced Power BI specialist who can own dashboard delivery end to end and mentor others on the team. You'll work closely with Risk, Finance, Data Engineering and Regulatory teams to build trusted reporting on capital and financial metrics.
What you’ll do
- Lead delivery of capital measurement and risk reporting analytics projects
- Design, build and optimize Power BI dashboards for capital, risk and finance metrics
- Turn complex datasets into visualizations for executive decision-making
- Work with Risk, Finance, Data Engineering and Regulatory teams to gather requirements
- Build and maintain scalable Power BI semantic models
- Write DAX measures and Power Query (M) transformations
- Support ETL processes with upstream data teams for accurate data feeds
- Manage Power BI Service environments, refresh schedules and workspace security
- Apply data governance and compliance controls to Power BI projects
- Automate report workflows with Power Automate
- Mentor junior team members on Power BI development practices
What they’re looking for
- Expert-level Power BI Desktop and Service experience
- Advanced DAX, Power Query (M) and SQL proficiency
- Strong enterprise data modeling background (fact/dimension)
- Experience supporting capital, risk or financial reporting initiatives
- Understanding of ETL, data reconciliation and data lineage
- Ability to explain complex data insights to stakeholders clearly
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Experience coaching or mentoring team members
Nice to have
- Experience with Power Automate
- Python scripting knowledge
- Familiarity with Git or Azure DevOps
- Background in regulatory or capital measurement reporting
- Process mapping and operating model documentation skills
