About the role
This is a senior information management contract with Ontario's Community Services Cluster, based onsite in Toronto. It suits someone who has led information governance, recordkeeping and metadata work in a large organization and is comfortable advising both technical and business stakeholders. The person in this role becomes the go-to expert on how the ministry manages structured and unstructured information across its lifecycle.
What you’ll do
- Advise ministry and cluster clients on information management best practices and lifecycle handling
- Assess business needs for recordkeeping, access and privacy across information domains
- Develop document management protocols, naming conventions and version-control guidelines
- Build business and records classification schemes using functional classification
- Define metadata schemas, standards and management protocols
- Support digitization, migration and modernization of legacy records and repositories
- Deliver training on information management concepts to diverse audiences
- Collaborate with business analysts, architects, data specialists and project managers
- Support development of privacy impact assessments
- Track information management performance measures and participate in related committees
What they’re looking for
- Knowledge of information architecture, metadata management, taxonomy and classification structures
- Experience supporting digitization, migration and modernization of legacy records and documents
- Knowledge of information governance, records retention and disposition practices
- Experience developing information management frameworks, metadata models and retention schedules
- Familiarity with FIPPA privacy legislation and AODA accessibility requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including workshop facilitation
- Experience working within public-sector information management and governance environments
Nice to have
- Experience developing business and records classification schemes using functional classification
- Knowledge of Enterprise Content Management / Records and Document Management solutions
