About the role
This is a senior business analyst contract role in Toronto, working onsite for a public sector client through a staffing vendor. It suits an experienced BA who can lead stakeholder workshops, requirements gathering and process modeling within a government I&IT environment. The client is identified as the Community Services Cluster within the Ontario government.
What you’ll do
- Provide business analysis services for clients with diverse business and technology needs.
- Gather, document and analyze business requirements through stakeholder interviews and workshops.
- Advise on business analysis policies, processes and standards.
- Lead business analysis aligned with OPS project management and systems development methodologies.
- Develop strategies, business cases and cost-benefit analyses.
- Conduct business, use case, conceptual and logical data modeling.
- Monitor progress and report to IT management and stakeholders.
- Develop performance measures and traceability matrices.
What they’re looking for
- Experience facilitating stakeholder interviews, workshops, JAD sessions and requirements-gathering activities.
- Experience developing current-state and future-state process models.
- Experience eliciting, analyzing, documenting and validating business and system requirements.
- Experience documenting business processes, rules, use cases, user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, Azure DevOps or Jira.
- Experience working in Agile, Scrum, Waterfall or hybrid delivery environments.
- Strong verbal, written, presentation and facilitation skills.
- Experience preparing business documentation, reports and recommendations.
Nice to have
- Experience with information retrieval packages.
- Knowledge of Information Management principles and practices.
- Experience with structured, object-oriented and agile requirements methodologies.
- Knowledge of AODA and related accessibility regulations.
- Public sector experience working with subject matter experts.
