About the role
This is a senior staff forward deployed engineer role at Alation, fully remote in the United States. It suits a seasoned technical leader who can turn ambiguous enterprise data governance problems into production-grade AI solutions quickly. You'll act as the technical bridge between Alation's most strategic enterprise customers and its Product and Engineering teams.
What you’ll do
- Architect and rapidly prototype AI agent systems, including LLM-based and multi-agent workflow designs
- Embed with Fortune 500 stakeholders to translate governance bottlenecks into technical roadmaps
- Build and deploy BI and ML pipelines converting cataloged data into executive-grade insights
- Partner with Deployment Strategists to connect technical delivery to business outcomes
- Define repeatable, scalable solution patterns for the broader Forward Deployed Engineering team
- Feed real-world edge cases and customer patterns back into the product roadmap
- Design internal tooling, accelerators and automation frameworks
- Mentor field engineers and customer-side technical teams
What they’re looking for
- 12+ years in software engineering, with significant time in customer-facing technical leadership roles
- Deep, hands-on experience with LLM orchestration frameworks including LangChain, AutoGen and CrewAI
- Experience with vector databases, RAG architectures and fine-tuning ML models
- Proven track record delivering large-scale BI and data pipeline solutions
- Architectural fluency across distributed systems, data governance and compliance-grade platforms
- A prototyper's mindset, shipping production-quality code at speed
- Executive presence and ability to earn trust with Fortune 500 CDOs
What’s on offer
- On target earnings (OTE) range of $200,000-$375,000 on a 75/25 split
- Base salary pay range of $148,974.00-$201,115.00
