About the role
This is a full-time finance and operations executive role with Active Minds, based preferably in Washington, DC with remote work available. It suits a nonprofit finance leader who can oversee accounting, technology, operations, budgeting, and board-level financial communication. The position reports to the Chief Operating Officer and leads finance, technology, and operations staff. Active Minds is a national nonprofit focused on changing how young people understand and discuss mental health.
What you’ll do
- Direct organizational accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and grant-budget tracking.
- Lead the annual audit and maintain relationships with external auditors.
- Advise senior leaders and the board on financial performance, investments, and financial practices.
- Manage finance, technology, and operations priorities across the organization.
- Guide technology-roadmap planning and operational systems, vendors, and office administration.
- Serve as the staff contact for the Board Finance Committee.
What they’re looking for
- 10 or more years of relevant experience, including nonprofit experience.
- At least five years managing and developing teams.
- Knowledge of GAAP, FASB guidance, and nonprofit accounting requirements.
- Demonstrated financial planning, financial-management, and operational-oversight experience.
- A bachelor's degree or certification in finance, accounting, or a related field.
Nice to have
- CPA certification.
- Master of Accounting degree.
- MBA.
