About the role

This remote Associate Vice President role is for an experienced facilities medical professional liability underwriter who can help build and manage an underwriting offering. You'll report to the Chief Underwriting Officer and support profitable policy selection, pricing, servicing, underwriting governance, and broker relationships. The work focuses on a data-driven medical malpractice insurance business.

What you’ll do

  • Build facilities underwriting guidelines, appetite guidance, policy forms, endorsements, and related materials.
  • Assess new submissions, renewals, and policy-change requests.
  • Make underwriting decisions in line with established guidance.
  • Review contract language and sign insurance contracts.
  • Analyze and report loss activity.
  • Maintain compliance with relevant state insurance requirements.
  • Work with business development to strengthen broker and agent relationships.
  • Help develop a repeatable, scalable underwriting process.

  • Have at least five years as a senior underwriter in facilities or medical professional liability insurance.
  • Bring at least ten years of underwriting experience.
  • Know facility types, rating approaches, risk indicators, and risk-mitigation methods.
  • Understand the facilities market, major carriers, and larger brokers.
  • Meet underwriting service deadlines reliably.
  • Understand relevant regulatory requirements.

Nice to have

  • Hold relevant underwriting certifications or professional designations.
  • Have production underwriting experience.
