About the role
This is a remote Staff Engineer role for a senior technical leader responsible for money movement, risk, fraud, scams, reconciliations and chargebacks across Yuno's global commerce platform. You will work remotely across Europe and globally, designing reliable financial systems and guiding the teams that operate them. The position combines hands-on architecture with mentoring, cross-team technical leadership and production ownership.
What you’ll do
- Set architecture across risk, fraud, scams, money operations, reconciliations and chargebacks.
- Design low-latency systems that evaluate and respond to transaction risk before or during authorization.
- Build idempotent money operations, reconciliation services and auditable ledgers.
- Develop platforms for scam prevention, disputes and chargeback processing.
- Design highly available, compliant systems for multi-tenant and elastic operation.
- Establish automated observability and support a You Build It, You Run It operating model.
- Mentor engineers and collaborate with Product, Data/ML, Compliance and other technical leaders.
What they’re looking for
- Extensive software engineering experience with deep Go and/or Kotlin expertise.
- A record of designing event-driven, high-throughput and low-latency distributed systems.
- Experience with financial or risk-critical systems where consistency, correctness and auditability are essential.
- Strong AWS and cloud-native experience, including services such as RDS, ECS, EKS and S3.
- Good automated testing practices across unit, integration and end-to-end testing.
- Experience providing technical direction, mentoring engineers and delivering cross-team projects.
- Judgment to balance reliability and compliance with delivery speed.
- Advanced written and spoken English.
Nice to have
- Experience with fraud or risk models, ML feature pipelines, ledgers, reconciliation, chargebacks or APP-scam prevention.
- Experience with Kafka, exactly-once processing or event sourcing.
- Payments or fintech experience at global scale.
- Performance tuning for high-volume, low-latency systems.
- Experience with static analysis and mature CI/CD tooling.
- Engineering standards adopted across multiple teams.
- Open-source contributions or technical writing.
- Spanish proficiency.
