About the role
Theta is hiring an onsite lead analytics consultant in Wellington to deliver Microsoft Fabric and Power BI solutions for clients. The role suits a client-facing analytics engineer with at least four years of Power BI, consulting, data-modeling, and end-to-end delivery experience. You will define trusted metrics, build semantic models and reporting products, and help customers adopt them.
What you’ll do
- Run discovery sessions to define KPIs, metric definitions, and reporting outcomes.
- Design semantic and analytics data models.
- Build initial Microsoft Fabric and Power BI solutions.
- Deliver documented solutions and coach client teams through handover.
- Work with solution architects and delivery teams when project scale requires it.
What they’re looking for
- At least 4 years of hands-on Power BI delivery, including semantic models, complex DAX, and performance optimization.
- At least 4 years of client-facing consulting and stakeholder workshop experience.
- At least 4 years of analytics data modeling and SQL experience, including dimensional and star-schema design.
- At least 4 years owning analytics delivery from requirements through release, adoption, and documentation.
- Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into reliable analytics products.
Nice to have
- Microsoft Fabric experience with Lakehouse, Warehouse, OneLake, Delta tables, Data Factory, dataflows, or notebooks.
- Git-based development, CI/CD, testing, release management, and monitoring practices.
- Data governance, data quality, row-level security, or access-pattern experience.
- Production support and performance troubleshooting experience.
- Relevant Power BI, Fabric, or Azure certifications.
- Experience mentoring peers or establishing delivery standards.
- Responsible use of AI coding assistants.
