About the role
This is a hands-on Snowflake lead role at State Street, building and maintaining scalable data pipelines and platforms. It suits an experienced data engineer who can own data quality, performance tuning and governance for business-critical reporting, based in Toronto. The role also supports adoption of AI-driven capabilities across the data platform.
What you’ll do
- Design and maintain scalable data pipelines and data models in Snowflake.
- Build and optimize workflows for data ingestion, transformation and reporting.
- Tune Snowflake query performance, storage and cost.
- Track dependencies across upstream and downstream systems.
- Troubleshoot data issues and implement durable fixes.
- Define and monitor metrics for pipeline health and data quality.
- Partner with business and technology teams to translate requirements into solutions.
- Support production releases and validate platform stability.
- Support audits, controls validation and remediation work.
What they’re looking for
- 12+ years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing or financial services technology.
- Strong hands-on Snowflake experience in a production environment, including data modeling and performance tuning.
- Experience with SQL and advanced data transformation logic.
- Experience with pipeline orchestration and cloud platforms, particularly Azure.
- Experience with structured and semi-structured data.
- Strong communication and cross-team collaboration skills in a matrix environment.
- Experience working in complex, cross-functional data ecosystems.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with regulatory reporting, financial data platforms or control environments.
- Experience supporting production systems and high-priority data issues.
