This is a senior data science role on Pinterest's Infrastructure Data Science team, partnering with engineering to make infrastructure more measurable and actionable. It suits an experienced analytical data scientist strong in SQL who wants to work on metrics, experimentation and measurement for systems like app performance, shopping infrastructure and site reliability. The role is based in the USA with limited in-office collaboration.
What you’ll do
- Partner with engineering teams to define and improve infrastructure health, quality and efficiency metrics
- Build metrics, dashboards and analytical frameworks for technical systems
- Improve metric definitions and audit data quality
- Design and analyze experiments to quantify the impact of infrastructure changes
- Translate ambiguous technical problems into clear analyses and recommendations
- Support investigations into infrastructure performance, reliability, cost and measurement quality

- 4+ years of combined post-graduate academic and industry experience applying scientific methods to large-scale data
- Bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field such as computer science, or equivalent experience
- Strong SQL and analytical programming skills
- Experience contributing to production-ready data pipelines or measurement systems
- Solid foundation in experimentation and measurement design
- Ability to translate ambiguous problems into clear analytical workstreams
- Strong cross-functional communication skills
- Ability to operate independently across projects and priorities
