About the role
Design and validate GPU Tensor Processing Cluster (TPC) microarchitectures through C++ performance modeling and simulation. This internship suits computer engineering students with strong C++ programming skills seeking hands-on experience in GPU architecture design. Based in Shanghai, working closely with NVIDIA's US-based TPC architecture team.
What you’ll do
- Investigate and propose GPU streaming multiprocessor (SM) architecture ideas based on quantitative analysis of performance data
- Develop performance and functional simulation models in C++
- Create and execute test plans to validate new SM architectural features and implementations
- Test and debug architectural designs on simulators, register transfer level (RTL), and real silicon hardware
- Collaborate with US-based architecture teams on validation and refinement
What they’re looking for
- Currently pursuing BSEE (Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering) or BSCSE (Bachelor of Science in Computer Science/Engineering)
- Strong proficiency in C++ programming language
- Understanding of performance and functional modeling, profiling, and analysis concepts
- Familiarity with trace-driven and execution-driven simulation model development
Nice to have
- GPU shader unit design experience
- Microprocessor architecture design experience
- CPU/GPU performance analysis background
- Prior hands-on simulation and validation experience
