About the role
This is a full-time, on-site dairy farm worker position at Nielsen Farms Ltd in Lacombe, Alberta, for an experienced agricultural worker with mechanical ability. You'll operate farm equipment, support cattle care, maintain barns and facilities, and help monitor animals for breeding and health needs. The schedule starts at 7 a.m., runs 8 to 10 hours per day, and includes every second weekend.
What you’ll do
- Operate tractors, skid steers, feed wagons, bale shredders, and sawdust blowers.
- Carry out routine maintenance on farm machinery and tools.
- Feed cows using a feed wagon.
- Bed corrals, heifer barns, and freestalls.
- Cut plastic on silos.
- Report heifers in heat and identify health concerns.
- Administer medication when required.
- Check the close-up group during the day for calving activity.
- Work independently and with the farm team.
