About the role
This is a Python-focused engineering role building analytical applications and data pipelines for decision-support and operational insight work. It suits a hands-on software engineer with data engineering experience who is comfortable owning both the backend pipeline and a user-facing dashboard, based in the USA. MetroSys is hiring someone to translate business and analytical requirements into production-ready software.
What you’ll do
- Design, build and maintain Python-based analytical applications for reporting and planning
- Build and support data pipelines covering ingestion, transformation, validation and integration
- Write and optimize SQL queries, schemas and data access patterns
- Create dashboards and visualizations for data exploration
- Translate analytical requirements into scalable software solutions
- Apply version control, testing and code review practices
- Support the full application lifecycle, including troubleshooting and performance work
- Document architecture, workflows and operational processes
What they’re looking for
- 5+ years of software engineering or application development experience
- Strong Python development expertise
- Experience building data-driven or analytical applications, including dashboards
- Strong SQL and relational database knowledge
- Experience with data pipelines and processing workflows
- Familiarity with frameworks such as Flask, FastAPI, Dash or Streamlit
- Familiarity with version control, CI/CD and automated testing
- Strong problem-solving, communication and documentation skills
Nice to have
- Experience with data visualization libraries such as Plotly or Dash
- Familiarity with cloud platforms or modern data platforms
- Experience supporting decision-support or analytical systems
- Exposure to simulation modeling or scenario-based analysis
- Experience in client-facing or consulting environments
