About the role
This is a senior data architecture role at Deckers Brands, reporting to the Director of Data Architecture, open remotely to residents of a specific list of US states. It suits a senior architect who can turn enterprise standards into domain-level data designs across batch and streaming systems. The work covers conceptual, logical and physical data architecture supporting analytics, governance and future AI use cases.
What you’ll do
- Implement enterprise data architecture standards across domains and initiatives
- Lead architecture design for assigned domains, including conceptual, logical and physical models
- Define domain-aligned data definitions and semantic consistency across the business
- Develop architecture patterns for batch and streaming, including event-driven flows
- Collaborate with data engineering to implement designs on AWS cloud platforms
- Participate in architecture and design reviews and enforce standards
- Partner with governance teams on data quality, privacy, security and metadata
- Maintain architecture artifacts, reference designs and decision records
- Facilitate stakeholder workshops to capture requirements and align on domain boundaries
- Coach engineers and analysts on architecture practices
What they’re looking for
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
- 8 to 12 years of experience in data architecture and related roles
- Experience designing architecture in modern cloud ecosystems, including AWS
- Experience with metadata management, data cataloging and lineage
- Understanding of Parquet, Iceberg and Delta Lake formats
- Strong expertise across conceptual, logical and physical data architecture
- Understanding of domain-driven design, data products and event-driven data flows
- Strong collaboration, facilitation and analytical skills
Nice to have
- Experience supporting domain-oriented data products, data mesh concepts and event-driven approaches
