About the role
Datacom is hiring a permanent, full-time Data Centre Technician for its Orbit Data Centre in Rosedale, Auckland. The onsite entry-level infrastructure role suits a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident who wants hands-on technology work and can cover a rotating day-and-night schedule. You will receive training while supporting customer equipment, monitoring operations, cabling, incidents, and data-centre processes.
What you’ll do
- Provide first-level support for data-centre customers
- Install and maintain servers, network equipment, telecommunications hardware, and cabling
- Carry out remote-hands tasks for customers
- Monitor alerts and operational processes, escalating issues when needed
- Support asset management, change activity, incident response, and service restoration
- Follow security, safety, and operating procedures
- Identify ways to improve operational processes
