About the role
Citi is hiring a VP-level data lead for its Markets Transformation & Program Execution group, based in Mississauga. The role suits a senior data analyst, data engineer or quantitative analyst who can apply data engineering and quantitative methods to support transformation programs and translate regulatory requirements into practical solutions. You'd work with product owners, risk specialists and technology teams to analyze data, prototype decision logic, and design agentic workflows for Markets.
What you’ll do
- Answer complex business questions through data to support transformation programs.
- Partner with product owners, risk specialists and technology teams to define analytical questions.
- Analyze complex data models using SQL and Python to assess data quality and evaluate solutions.
- Develop reusable frameworks for recurring data-quality validation and pipeline assessment.
- Build proofs of concept and prototypes from regulatory rule text or business requirements.
- Translate business and regulatory requirements into testable decision logic and data models.
- Decompose business processes into data structures, entities and reference data.
- Contribute to the design of data pipelines and transformation logic.
- Design agentic large language model workflows to automate suitable tasks.
- Apply quantitative financial analysis techniques such as backtesting and Monte Carlo analysis.
- Develop visualizations, documentation and knowledge-management artifacts.
- Manage assigned work independently using Jira, Confluence and GitHub.
What they’re looking for
- 5 to 10 years as a data analyst, data engineer, quantitative analyst or similar.
- Experience in financial services and how data supports business, risk or regulatory processes.
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL for investigating complex datasets.
- Experience with Python data libraries such as Pandas, Polars or DuckDB.
- Experience analyzing data models and translating business questions into analytical approaches.
- Ability to prototype algorithms, business rules and decision trees.
- Experience designing or evaluating data models, including normalization and reference data.
- Understanding of enterprise-scale data systems, including lakehouses and data pipelines.
- Experience handling sensitive, confidential or controlled data with proper governance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an evidence-based approach.
- Ability to work independently in an agile transformation environment.
- Familiarity with Jira, Confluence and GitHub.

- Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
