About the role
This is a software engineering role at Cisco building agentic AI and LLM systems in Python, hybrid in Bengaluru. You'll lead design of scalable Python backend systems and drive architecture for complex agentic AI systems using LangGraph. The role also involves mentoring engineers and setting standards for AI/RAG architecture across the team.
What you’ll do
- Align with overall architecture and technical design for backend, data, cloud and AI platforms
- Lead the design of scalable Python backend systems and data pipelines
- Drive architecture and development of Agentic AI and LLM systems using LangGraph
- Establish standards for AI/RAG architecture, APIs, databases and distributed systems
- Lead complex technical and production issues across teams
- Mentor engineers and influence engineering standards
- Partner with stakeholders to align technical strategy with business goals
- Use secure coding practices and ensure user privacy
- Create technical design and user documentation
- Debug and address software issues in development and production
- Drive AWS and cloud-native architecture using S3, SQS, SNS and Lambda
What they’re looking for
- 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience in machine learning engineering, backend development and applied AI
- Deep experience with Agentic AI, LLM applications, LangGraph and RAG architectures
- Proven experience operationalizing deep learning and LLM models in production
- Experience deploying LangGraph and multi-agent workloads with versioned prompts and rollback strategy
- Experience defining token, latency, throughput and cost optimization strategies for LLM systems
- Experience with LLM evaluation and observability tooling such as LangSmith
- Expertise in ETL optimization including scheduling, partition pruning and caching
- Strong expertise in Python, backend engineering and distributed systems
Nice to have
- Ability to mentor engineers and lead large-scale, cross-functional initiatives
- Ability to align technical strategy with business goals and stakeholder priorities
- Knowledge of network technologies and enterprise platform integration patterns
- Strong written and verbal communication including executive-ready technical storytelling
- Experience integrating Model Context Protocol and related AI tool ecosystems
