What you’ll do
- Implement scalable, production-grade analytical data models in PostgreSQL
- Build and optimize SQL-based ELT transformations in the Heroku/Postgres environment
- Translate business and reporting requirements into reusable data transformations and views
- Develop and enhance Sigma dashboards for clarity and trust in metrics
- Optimize query performance, indexing and materialization approaches in Postgres
- Implement data quality checks, documentation and testing practices
- Establish data modeling and naming standards across the analytics layer
- Investigate and resolve data discrepancies and performance issues
What they’re looking for
- 2-5 years of experience in analytics engineering, data analytics or a related data role
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with PostgreSQL in an analytics context
- Experience supporting BI and reporting workflows
- Advanced SQL including complex joins, CTEs, window functions and query tuning
- Strong experience building analytical models in PostgreSQL
- Hands-on experience with Heroku-hosted or similar PaaS data environments
- Proficiency building dashboards in Sigma or a comparable BI tool
- Solid understanding of dimensional modeling
- Experience with Git-based version control
- Must pass a background check
Nice to have
- Postgres performance tuning at scale
- Familiarity with Heroku data pipelines, scheduling or automation
- Experience implementing data quality tests and monitoring
- Exposure to semantic layer or metric standardization work
- Working knowledge of Python or scripting for data tasks
- Experience supporting product or education analytics
